EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Wildcats travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma on Saturday for the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by No. 21 Oklahoma State.
Northwestern will compete in a 6K, starting at 9:15 a.m. featuring Big Ten foes No. 9 Penn State and opponents from the upcoming Midwest Regional in Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Tulsa, (rv) Missouri and Kansas State.
"This race will be good for this team because it will give them an idea what to expect at both Big Tens and at the Midwest Regional," said assistant coach Austin Brobst.
The last time out on Sept. 2, the 'Cats swept the top-two spots at the UIC Flames Opener, and placed seven runners in the top 13. Sophomore Aubrey Roberts won the 4K, with Sarah Nicholson claiming second. Sara Coffey finished eighth Hannah Tobin, Brooke Pignieri, Andrea Ostenso and Haley Albers finished from tenth to 13th in that order.
"By the time the gun goes off on Saturday the women will have had close to a month of solid training under their belts since the last competition and we are looking forward to seeing how their fitness has progressed," Brobst said.
Head Coach AHavahla Haynes' lineup will feature one change from eleven who competed at the Flames Opener. Isabel Seidel will race in her first event of the year, joining Albers, Coffey, Amanda Davis, Nicholson, Kelly O'Brien, Mary Orders, Ostenso, Pigniero, Roberts and Tobin.
The experienced. lineup features two first years, three sophomores, one juniors, and all five seniors.
"We will continue to work on running as a group, and finding a rhythm early in the race and working on keeping everyone as together as possible over the 6K course" Brobst said.
Results for the meet will be posted at www.okstate.com.
