Julian Tejada Named Assistant Coach

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head women's tennis coach Claire Pollard has announced the addition of Julian Tejada as the team's assistant coach.
Tejada joins the Wildcats after most recently serving as the volunteer assistant coach for the University of Michigan women's tennis program.
"We are thrilled to have Julian come on board," Pollard said. "His experience working with high-level females will be invaluable to the program. We are looking forward to building a championship-caliber team with him."
During his time at Michigan, Tejada helped Brienne Minor win the NCAA Singles Championship while Kate Fahey reached the quarterfinal round. As a team, the Wolverines won the Big Ten regular-season title while earning a national ranking as high as No. 4 before finishing at No. 11 in the ITA Oracle Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
A 2001 graduate of Campbell University with a degree in business administration, Tejada was a member of the Camels' team from 1999-2001 after starting his collegiate career at North Greenville College. He posted a 27-4 singles record in 2000 with the 27 victories ranking the fourth most in a season in school history.
Upon graduation, Tejada served as an assistant coach for Campbell's men's and women's teams for a year. He moved on to become a tennis professional at Saddlebrook International Tennis Academy in Tampa, Florida, from 2002-08 where he worked with a number of notable players including Martina Hingis, Jennifer Capriati, Monica Seles, Victoria Azarenka, Ashley Harkleroad, Ai Sugiyama and Jelena Jankovic.
Tejada then became the assistant director of tennis at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, from 2008-10 before working as the tennis professional at Manchester Athletic Club in Manchester by the Sea, Massachusetts, from 2010-16.
