EVANSTON, Ill. – Konrad Zieba has earned a spot in next week's NCAA singles tournament, the NCAA announced Friday.
Zieba joins teammate Strong Kirchheimer to represent Northwestern in the national field of 64. The single-elimination tournament begins May 24 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.
"It is great to have Konrad and Strong representing Northwestern at the NCAA Singles Championship," head coach Arvid Swan said. "Both players have had great individual seasons, and I know they are excited to compete in Athens, Georgia."
This marks the second straight tournament appearance for Zieba. He holds a 22-11 record overall and went 20-8 during the 2017 dual season. Zieba played primarily at the No. 2 spot for the Wildcats and holds three wins over nationally ranked opponents. He will enter the individual postseason having won four of his last five matches.
Zieba and Kirchheimer helped lead Northwestern to its sixth straight NCAA tournament appearance and fifth consecutive 20-win season. The Wildcats (22-11) advanced to the Round of 32 for the third straight year.
