Northwestern Signs Inci Ogut to National Letter of Intent

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head women's tennis coach Claire Pollard has announced the signing of Inci Ogut (Istanbul, Turkey/TED Istanbul) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Wildcats for the 2017-18 season.
Ogut is the second individual signed to matriculate to Evanston in the fall, joining Caroline Pozo.
"We are thrilled Inci is joining our program," Pollard said. "She will bring so much to the team. She is warm, engaging, and loves to compete. She has worked hard at her craft and she possesses a great forehand and serve along with great international experience. Inci understands how to balance the high demands of school and top tennis. We can't wait for her to arrive."
Ogut is the top-ranked U18 player in Turkey and the seventh-ranked player overall. She earned a career-best ITF Juniors ranking of No. 240 and captured U12, U14 and U16 national championships.

Prior to Northwestern: Has played on the ITF Juniors circuit since 2013, compiling a 35-23 record in singles and a 43-15 record in doubles … Won one ITF Juniors singles championship, while earning one runner-up finish with a semifinalist finish and two quarterfinalist finishes in singles … Captured eight ITF Juniors doubles championships with one runner-up finish and two semifinalist finishes and four quarterfinal finishes … Won seven Tennis Europe championships … Career-best ranking of No. 240 (Jan. 2015) … Ranked No. 1 in U18 and No. 7 overall in Turkey … Won national championships at U12, U14 and U16 age categories … Selected member of Turkish National Team since 2010 … Member of ITF/Tennis Europe Grand Slam Development Team U14 and U16 … Reached fourth round of 2013 European Championships … No. 1 singles and doubles player and team captain at TED Istanbul High.
