On Friday, first-year student-athlete Kelly O'Brien will get things started for the Wilcats in the 800M.
On Saturday morning, the 1500M will include Sara Coffey, while junior Isabel Seidel will compete in the 3000M steeplechase, in the final (fastest) heat of the competition. The 5000M event on Saturday morning features Aubrey Roberts and Brooke Pigneri, while the night heat includes Jena Pianin. The late section of the 1500M will include O'Brien.
"We are heading into the Virginia Challenge carrying a lot of momentum from last weekend," said head coach 'AHavahla Haynes. "We are focusing more on our racing methods and less on time. The entire team is in a positive and motivated mindset with our overarching goal to get into the Top-48 of the West Preliminary Region. We have talked with the women about how this weekend, especially for those competing on back-to-back weekends, is a critical building block of their training."
Friday night's competition will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
In an extremely competitive field, over 50 schools and 1,100 student-athletes will descend on Charlottesville this weekend, with the women's competition featuring a pair of Top-10 teams in No. 2 Georgia and No. 8 Florida.
