Nicholson Sets Pace For 'Cats Thursday At Bryan Clay

AZUSA, Calif. – Sarah Nicholson paced the Wildcats in the 5000M event on Thursday under the lights at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University, an early-season destination for top pro and collegiate distance runners.The Wildwood, Missouri, native turned in a 16:29.37, the No. 2 time on Northwestern's all-time list, and more than 30 seconds faster than her previous personal record set just two weeks ago.
The rookie's milestone was one of three Wildcats personal records on the night. Isabel Seidel's 16:45.96 shaved more than 45 seconds off her personal best established in 2015, and is the fifth-fastest outdoor 5000 time in program history. Classmate Brooke Pigneri established a personal record by more than 13 seconds, while senior Jena Pianin ran her fastest time since 2015.

On Friday night, a trio of Wildcats will compete in the 1500M event at Cougar Stadium. First-year student-athlete Kelly O'Brien will be in Heat 4, junior Sara Coffey will run in Heat 9 and rookie Aubrey Roberts will compete in Heat 11.
