EVANSTON, Ill. -- Today marked Freshman Aubrey Roberts' first appearance in a Team USA uniform as she competed at the 13th Annual North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) Cross Country Championships in Boca Raton, FL. Roberts participated in the Junior Women's 5K to represent the United States of America at South County Regional Park.

Results: NACAC Cross Country Championships (5K)

Heading into the event, Roberts saw this race as a primer for the 2017 IAAF World Championships to take place 22 days from now. Going in, Northwestern Head Coach 'A Havahla Haynes said "She will be able to sharpen her racing tactics and will have a main focus on overall position to help Team USA come away with a win."

Roberts placed 7th in the event in a field of 24, being the first of Team USA to cross the finish line. She completed the 5K race in 17:14.77, six seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Team USA placed 2nd in the event (with 36 points) behind Canada (12 points), and ahead of third place Mexico (49) and fourth place Puerto Rico (84).

Next up for Aubrey Roberts is the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Kampala, Uganda on March 26th, where she will race again for Team USA.
