EVANSTON, Ill. -- Three Northwestern #B1GCats are headed out to the West Coast this weekend to compete in the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle. The meet is to span over two days, with the 'Cats competing in two events on Saturday.
After an impressive Top-10 finish at last week's USA Track and Field Cross Country Championship in Bend, Oreg., Freshman Kelly O'Brien is back to compete in the Women's Mile alongside Senior veteran Jena Pianin, who holds a program-best (4:49.81 on 2/13/15) for the Indoor Mile.
Also in the lineup for Northwestern is Freshman Sarah Nicholson, whose most recent performance last week at the Meyo Invitational put her at the top of her heat in the 3000 meter, leaving her 18th overall with the fourth-best time for the program.
The Husky Classic will be an opportunity for the Wildcats to "go out and compete with some of the nation's best. The races will be set up competitively, so we are trying to win our heat and run season-best times or personal-best times," said Assistant Coach Austin Brobst.
The meet can be followed via FloTrack live stream, with coverage beginning at 10:00am CST on Feb 10th and continuing through Feb 11th (subscription required). The Women's 3000 meter race is slated to start at 2:20pm CST on Saturday with the mile will to follow, kicking off at 3:35pm.
