Northwestern Baseball Adds Eight Newcomers

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern University head baseball coach Spencer Allen and his staff have announced the addition of eight newcomers that will join the program in the fall of 2017.
"We are extremely excited about each player in this class," Allen said. "During the recruiting process we target high-character individuals with a strong academic background and who have a passion and desire to compete and develop in the game of baseball. All eight of our incoming student-athletes embody those standards. I look forward to having them join our program."
Allen's incoming class consists of five pitchers (3 LHP, 2 RHP), a catcher, infielder and an outfielder.

Projected Position: Right-Handed Pitcher
High School: A two-year letterwinner for the Cougars … Named a team captain his junior year … Posted a 1.44 ERA in 58 innings and recorded 70 strikeouts in his junior season … Batted .364 and had an on-base percentage of .466 with 15 stolen bases … Named to the All-Conference and All-Metro teams in 2016 … Played his club ball with Perfect Game Iowa Select … Had a 0.40 ERA in 52 innings pitched over the 2015 and 2016 seasons … Five-time Perfect Game All-Tournament Team honoree … National Honor Society and honor roll all four years of high school.

Project Position: Right-Handed Pitcher
High School: A two-year letterwinner at Stevenson High School … Member of a Stevenson team that posted a 24-10-1 overall record in 2015 and were the North Suburban Lake Conference Champions … Batted .350 in non-league play last season with a .458 on-base percentage and a .550 slugging percentage … Played his summer ball for Top Tier and helped the program make an appearance at the 2016 Connie Mack World Series.

Projected Position: Infielder
High School: Three-year letterwinner at Blessed Trinity … Helped the Raiders win the region and state championships in 2015 and a state finals berth in 2016 … Combined for 66-6 Posted a .420 batting average with 53 hits, including four triples, 48 runs scored and 24 RBIs … Racked up a career on-base percentage of .502 … Has a .474 batting average in 11 postseason games … Plays with Team Georgia during the summer and helped the club to the 17U WWBA National Championship National Championship in 2015 and 2016 and then the 18U WWBA National Championship National in 2016 … Named All-Region, All-State, and to the All-Tournament Team in Perfect Game's WWBA National Championship … Made the honor roll each semester of high school … National Honor Society member.
