Roberts Opens Indoor Season With School Record

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Aubrey Roberts kicked off the 2017-18 indoor track season with a school record in the 5000M at Saturday's Boston University Season Opener.
BU Season Opener – RESULTS
The Eau Claire, Wisconsin, native ran a 16:10.04 at the BU Track & Tennis Center, good for third in her heat among an elite field looking to capitalize on fitness carried over from the conclusion of the fall cross country campaign. The performance chopped more than 21-seconds off the Wildcats 5000M indoor record, a 16:31.66 by current senior Andrea Ostenso at the 2015 Meyo Invite.
Roberts was both an All-Big Ten and All-Region performer for Northwestern during her sophomore cross country campaign.
The Wildcats will return to competition in the new year, next hitting the track on January 12 at the Illini Classic in Champaign. Three additional indoor events – the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 2), Husky Classic (Feb. 9) and Alex Wilson Invite (Feb. 17) – will round out the schedule for head coach 'AHavahla Haynes and the 'Cats before the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March at Texas A&M.
