EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern rose a spot to No. 4 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Rankings this week after finishing 19th on Saturday at the NCAA Pre-Nationals.

The Wildcats leapfrogged Missouri, the defending Midwest regional champions, and sit one spot higher in the polls. Northwestern finished four spots and 100 points better than the Tigers, ranked No. 24 at the time, at the 6K this past weekend in Louisville, Ky.,

The No. 4 ranking is the highest for the Wildcats since the first week of the 2013 season. Northwestern has only ever held the No. 4 ranking in the Midwest for four weeks total and has never been ranked higher since the regional rankings started in 2010.

Northwestern joins Minnesota, Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin and Michigan State as top-four teams in regional rankings from the Big Ten. The entire conference will square off at the Big Ten Championships on Oct. 29 in Bloomington, Ind.
