EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern travels to Louisville, Kentucky this weekend to race at the NCAA Pre-Nationals at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park on Saturday.

The Wildcats will race in their second 6K of the season, starting at 10:45 a.m. against 53 other top teams in the country, including Big Ten opponents Michigan and Ohio State.

"Going into this weekend, we want to carry the momentum from Oklahoma State into Pre Nationals," head coach 'A Havahla Haynes said. "We will do this by continuing to run with our respective groups and finding the rhythm early on in the race."

Northwestern is ranked fifth in the USTFCCA Midwest Region, the program's highest ranking since 2013. The boost in the polls came on the heels of the team's fifth place finish at the Cowboy Jamboree two weeks ago.

"As always with Pre-Nationals it will give us a great opportunity to preview the course and go up against some competition we haven't seen this season," Haynes said.

The team will bring ten racers, with Haley Albers, Sara Coffey, Sarah Nicholson, Andrea Ostenso, Aubrey Roberts, Isabel Seidel and Hannah Tobin competing in the seeded race. Amanda Davis, Kelly O'Brien and Brooke Pignieri will also compete in the unseeded race.

Last time out at the Cowboy Jamboree 6K hosted by Oklahoma State, Roberts finished second while Nicholson finished eighth. Six Wildcats posted sub-23 minute times.

At NCAA Pre-Nationals last season, which were held in Terre Haute, Ind., Roberts posted a top-50 finish, while Roberts, Nicholson and then-junior Albers were the only 'Cats to finish the 6K in under 23 minutes.
