EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern landed three doubles teams in the top 25 when the initial Oracle/ITA Division I women's national rankings were released Wednesday.

The Wildcats are paced by the duo of Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp who start the dual match season ranked No. 6. The pairing earned their first invitation to the NCAA Doubles Championship last season.

Also earning a national ranking to start the campaign is the team of Rheeya Doshi and Jillian Rooney who come in at No. 23 while the duo of Erin Larner and Lee Or are right behind at No. 24.

Florida is the only other team to join the Wildcats in having three doubles teams ranked among the top 25 in the nation to open the season.

On the singles side, Lipp has earned a ranking of No. 104 heading into next weekend's opener.

As a team, Northwestern is just outside the first top-25 ranking of the season. The Wildcats are listed as one of four teams receiving votes.

Under the guidance of head coach Claire Pollard, NU is coming off its 18th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance a year ago. The 'Cats return eight letterwinners and open their dual match season Saturday, Jan. 14 when they host Akron at 11 a.m. and Chicago State at 5 p.m. at Combe Tennis Center.

Fans have the opportunity to meet this year's team this Friday, Jan. 6 from 7-8:30 p.m. Individuals of all age levels and abilities are invited to bring their tennis rackets to go through some drills and fun games. Afterward, fans will have the opportunity to meet team members and enjoy some pizza.
