Evanston’s ‘Kits, ‘Cats and Kids Block Party Set for Sept. 15

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Evanston's 'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party will turn Sherman Avenue into a great place for the whole family to play. The block party will be held on Thursday, September 15, from 4:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This year the party moves a block north and expands a block west to make room for more fun! It will take place on Sherman Avenue between Church and Clark Streets and on Clark Street between Sherman and Benson Avenues.
The Northwestern University and Evanston Township High School Marching Bands will perform, and special guests will fire up the crowd in anticipation of the NU Wildcat and ETHS Wildkit football games to be played that weekend. The following food vendors are scheduled to be on site: Chicago Cupcakes, Beaver Donuts, Chicago Lunchbox, Amancer Tacos, La Cocinita, Baby Cakes, Slide Ride and Krave Hotdogs.
The event will also include appearances from the Northwestern men's soccer and men's basketball teams, Vice President of Northwestern Athletics and Recreation Dr. Jim Phillips, and the captains of the NU football team. Kaleidoscope Eyes, a Beatles cover band, will provide live music.
Evanston Day at Ryan Field is set for Saturday, September 17 when the 'Cats host the Duke Blue Devils at 7 p.m. Special priced tickets will be available at the Block Party Thursday night.
To beat the traffic, guests are encouraged to ride their bike or take public transportation to the event.
