BRÉTIGNY-SUR-ORGE, France – Senior Nia Coffey scored 17 points to lead Northwestern to the first victory of its exhibition tour in France, 79-50, to All Star 91 on Tuesday evening.
The Wildcats used a balance attack as every player saw court time. Junior Lydia Rohde and senior Christen Inman joined Coffey in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Senior Ashley Deary contributed nine points, while sophomore Jordan Hankins and junior transfer Oceana Hamilton added seven points apiece.
Chicago's Big Ten Team jumped out to an early 17-6 lead after 10 minutes of play, but All Star 91 nearly leveled the score midway through the second quarter. An Inman 3-pointer in the final minutes of the second frame triggered a run for the 'Cats as NU entered the halftime break with a 26-36 lead.
All Star 91 logged three-straight triples to start the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats never relinquished their double-digit lead.
Northwestern returns to action tomorrow at 9 a.m. CST Wednesday when it faces Le Havre in Paris.
