EVANSTON, Ill. – 2015 national champion Cody Brewer will join the Northwestern wrestling program as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Matt Storniolo announced Thursday.
The four-time All-American at Oklahoma joins fellow Sooner alumni Storniolo and Andrew Howe on the Northwestern staff after the Wildcats added Howe as an assistant on May 24.
"It is not often that you get to announce the addition of a four-time All-American and national champ to a coaching staff, and we have done that twice in a month," Storniolo said. "Cody is excited to have the opportunity to join the Wildcat family, and we are excited to welcome him. He will make an immediate impact on the Northwestern wrestling program."
Brewer won the 2015 national championship at 133 lbs. as the No. 13 seed and is the two-time defending Big 12 champion. He was a conference finalist in each of his four years. He finished his career with a 95-22 record with 68 of those wins by bonus point decisions.
He was a four-time Missouri state champion at Oak Park High School in Kansas City.
Brewer was twice named to the All-Big 12 Academic First Team.
