#B1GCats Set For Virginia Challenge & Illinois Twilight On Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Four Northwestern Wildcats will be participating in the Virginia Challenge races on Friday and Saturday, hosted by the University of Virginia.

Seniors Elena Barham and Camille Blackman, and sophomore Brooke Pigneri will run the 5000m event, while junior Jena Pianin will compete in the 1500 meter race.

The women's 5K will begin at 8:15 a.m. CT, and the 1500 meter event will begin at 9:28 a.m. CT at Lannigan Field.

The meet will see some of the top competitors in the nation and will include student-athletes from 22 conference champion teams. Over 70 All-Americans, including ones that have captured 16 individual NCAA titles, are set compete along with elite post-collegiate athletes. In total, more than 1200 athletes are scheduled to participate.

Seven schools slated to compete in Charlottesville are currently ranked in the USTFCCCA women's top-25 rankings, including No. 6 Georgia, No. 8 Kentucky, No. 9 Florida, No. 11 Mississippi State, No. 14 Harvard, No. 18 Virginia Tech and No. 22 Notre Dame.

While four of their teammates compete in Charlottesville, eight Wildcats will be participating in the Illinois Twilight on Saturday at The University of Illinois.

Running the 5K are sophomore Sara Coffey, juniors Elena Miller, Andrea Ostenso, Hannah Rose, and Ellen Schmitz, and senior Allison Jacobsen. Sophomore Kinsey Harmon will be running the 3K in what will be her first race in more than a year, and sophomore Victoria Bianco will run the 1500 at the Illinois Soccer & Track Stadium.

Though the Illinois Twilight opens at 12 p.m. CT with the throwing events, the track events will kick off at 4 p.m.
