NCAA Brackets, First Round Matches Announced

2016 NCAA Championships Brackets
EVANSTON, Ill. – The NCAA officially released the brackets on Wednesday for the 2016 National Championships next weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Northwestern will be represented at the NCAA Championships by Dominick Malone (133), Jameson Oster (141) and Jason Tsirtsis (149).
Tsirtsis, the 2014 national champion and two-time All-American, received the No. 6 seed at his weight class in his third trip to NCAAs. He will face South Dakota State's Alex Kocer in the first round. Tsirtsis enters the championships ranked No. 4 in the nation at 149 lbs.
Malone is also making his third appearance at the national championships. The 133-pounder drew No. 11-seed Dom Forys of Pitt in the first round. Malone led the Wildcats with 22 wins this season, eight of which came by fall. The senior won 15 matches by bonus point decisions and beat four ranked opponents.
Oster will compete on the nation's biggest stage for the second time in his career. The Northwestern senior received an at-large bid at 141 lbs. and will wrestle eighth-seeded Joseph Ward from North Carolina. Oster boasts four wins over NCAA participants and was nationally ranked for the entire final month of the regular season.
The NCAA Championships get underway at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday, March 17 and run through the finals at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 19.
