PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Northwestern took a two-run lead into the bottom of the sixth inning against Boston College at the Snowbird Baseball Classic, but could not hold on and fell to the Eagles, 6-3.
The loss drops Northwestern to 4-6 on the season, while Boston College remains unbeaten at 8-0.
Tommy Bordignon (1-1) was credited with the loss for Northwestern. Boston College's John Nicklas earned his second victory of the season.
Reed Mason got the start for the Wildcats in the game and pitched 5.0 innings, allowing five hits and striking out two batters. He received a no-decision.
Five Northwestern players tallied multiple hits in the game, which included extra-base knocks from Jack Dunn, Zach Jones and Joe Hoscheit. Dunn and Hoscheit each had an RBI.

Mason pitched his way out of jams in the second, third and fourth innings to keep the Wildcats in front. Boston College had runners in scoring position in all three of those innings, but could not manage to get a run off Mason until the sixth frame.
The Wildcats picked up their second run of the game in the sixth inning from freshman Ben Dickey. Connor Lind singled in the first at-bat of the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Dickey drove a pitch into center field to bring home Lind from second and put Northwestern in front, 2-0.
Boston College tied the game in the bottom half of the sixth with a pair of runs, before putting up a four-run eighth inning to take a 6-2 lead.
Dunn got Northwestern its final run of the game in the top of the ninth when he singled home Grant Peikert.
