Junior Nia Coffey has been named one of 30 student-athletes to the "Wade Watch" list, the Women's Basketball Coaches Associate (WBCA) announced today.

Now in its 39th year, The Wade Trophy is named in honor of the late, legendary Delta State University coach, Lily Margaret Wade.

Regarded as "The Heisman of Women's Basketball," The Wade Trophy is presented annually to the WBCA NCAA Division I Player of the Year. The 30-member list is made up of top NCAA Division I student-athletes who best embody the spirit of Lily Margaret Wade according to the following criteria: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability.

Coffey, a co-captain for the Wildcats, tallied her 1,000th-career point in the 'Cats season-opening win over Howard. The junior became the second active Wildcat to accomplish the feat. So far this year, Coffey has recorded 19 20-plus point performances, including a season-high 31 points in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals against top-seeded Maryland. Coffey has scored in double figures in 49-straight games, dating back to Jan. 22, 2015, for the third-best streak in program history and averaged a team-best 20.3 points per game. She leads the Big Ten in double-doubles with 17 and is the only Big Ten player to rank among the league's top five in points (20.3 ppg), rebounds (9.8 rpg) and blocks (2.0 bpg).

The Minneapolis, Minnesota, native is one of seven players from the Big Ten represented on the Wade Watch list, along with Ohio State's Ameryst Alston and Kelsey Mitchell, Maryland's Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Minnesota's Rachel Banham and Michigan State's Aerial Powers.

The WBCA will officially announce The Wade Trophy winner during the WBCA Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women's Final Four® in Indianapolis.
