CHICAGO, Ill. – Following a two-week break, Northwestern returned to the track in two different cities on Saturday and registered 11 personal records. Wildcats ran at the Windy City Rumble, hosted by the University of Chicago, and at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame.

To start the day at Henry Crown Field House, the Wildcats secured four of the top-7 sports in the 1-Mile field, led by junior Andi Ostenso. Ostenso returned to competition with a 5:09.35 effort and a second-place result. She was followed by teammates Sara Coffey (5:11.35) in fifth, Brooke Pigneri (5:13.55) in sixth and Allison Jacobsen (5:13.67) in seventh.

Junior Ellen Schmitz finished in 5:23.20, Ashley Ko in 5:26.86, Elena Miller in 5:31.37 and Grace Kelly in 5:32.28. The event featured indoor personal records by Ostenso, Coffey, Pigneri, Jacobsen and Ko.

"The team competed well, almost all of the women raced under their preferred distance," said head coach 'AHavahla Haynes. "The goal of the day was to be uncomfortable and to deal with fatigue. We clocked ten personal bests, which is always a great way to end a competition. It was a step in the right direction for our team."

Jena Pianin operated as a pacer for her teammates in the mile, but competed fully in the 800 Meters and led Northwestern, finishing third in the entire field with a 2:18.52 result.

Ostenso followed with a ninth-place finish in 2:28.85, followed by Jacobsen in 11th (2:30.88), Schmitz in 12th (2:30.91), Pigneri in 13th (2:30.97), Victoria Bianco in 16th (2:33.20) and Elena Miller (2:44.57). The event featured indoor personal records by Ostenso, Jacobsen, Pigneri, Schmitz and Bianco.

While most of the team competed in Hyde Park, senior Elena Barham was in South Bend, Indiana, running against an elite field at Notre Dame's 2016 Meyo Invitational. Barham was entered in the 3000 Meter race and built upon her already strong season, running a personal record 9:52.50, shaving almost 17-seconds off of her previous best (10:09.36 from Illini Classic, 1/15/16).

"Elena has been our most consistent runner in the 2015-2016 campaign," said Haynes. "Her consistency has proven to be instrumental for her recent personal bests."

The Wildcats will take a week off from competition before returning on Feb. 20 when a portion of the squad will compete in Champaign, Ill., at the Orange & Blue Invite, while a different roster will run at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend.
