Craig Sager to be Inducted in Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern alumnus and sports broadcasting legend Craig Sager will add to his list of honors on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, when he is inducted into the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame.
 
Sager, who graduated from Northwestern in 1973, walked on to the football and basketball programs at NU, before serving as the 'Willie The Wildcat' mascot during his undergraduate years. 
 
The Batavia, Illinois, native is best known for wearing his colorful suits as the sideline reporter for the NBA on TNT. Over the last four decades, Sager has used his talents to broadcast the NBA, the Olympics, Major League Baseball Postseason, the National Football League, and Professional Golf Association in addition to countless other events.
 
Joining Sager in the class of 2017 for the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame will be former NFL linebacker Keith Brooking, former executive director of Atlanta Track Clubs and director of Peachtree Road Race Julia Emmons, iconic Atlanta Hawks radio broadcaster Steve Holman and basketball coach Bob Reinhart.  
 
Sager was named the 2016 recipient of the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at last year's ESPYs. He has been battling acute myeloid leukemia since 2014.
 
The Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame Awards and Induction Ceremonies will take place at the Buckhead Theater. More information on the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame can be found at
