EVANSTON, Ill. -- Nia Coffey scored a game-high 20 points and Christen Inman chipped in 14 to lead Northwestern past UT-Martin, 82-59, Thursday afternoon at Welsh-Ryan Arena in the team's final non-conference game.

Northwestern improved to 11-2 with the win.

The Wildcats out-shot UT-Martin 47 percent to 34 percent and absolutely dominated in points in the paint (48-16), points off turnovers (27-7), fast break points (21-4) and second choice points (20-9).

Coffey scored 11 of her 20 in the first quarter to reach double-digits for the 61st consecutive game. She also secured her eighth double-double of the year and 48th of her career with 12 rebounds. Coffey has scored 20 or more in six games this year.

Ashley Deary was on quadruple-double watch but was pulled at the beginning of the fourth quarter. She finished the day with nine points, eight rebounds, eight assists and seven steals. She is now just three steals away from breaking the Big Ten career record of 372.

Northwestern set the tone from the tip as Oceana Hamilton scored a layup on the opening possession to jumpstart a 13-2 run for the Wildcats in the first quarter. The 'Cats dominated down low in the first 10 minutes, scoring 20 points in the paint to help NU take a 29-14 lead at the end of the first.

UT-Martin was able to get back into the game in the second quarter by outscoring the Wildcats, 20-16, but Deary's all-around first half performance helped to keep the Skyhawks at bay and give NU a 45-34 lead at the half.

Northwestern shot 54 percent from the field on 19-of-35 shooting in the first half, while the Wildcats' defense held UT-Martin to just 32 percent (10-of-31).

Following the break, NU tightened up on the defensive end and only allowed the Skyhawks to score five points in the third quarter to build a 60-39 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of the game.

All 15 Wildcats ultimately saw action in Thursday's game with Northwestern continuing to pull further away in the fourth quarter.

Chicago's Big Ten Team opens Big Ten play at Nebraska on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m.
