EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern wrapped up a successful fall ball season last month that saw the program compete in four exhibition contests, including a game with former Northwestern baseball players during Alumni Weekend.

"We really took advantage of our fall schedule this year," said head coach Spencer Allen. "It was a time for the guys to focus on their individual fundamentals, while also working on taking the next steps to develop as a team and get into a good place heading into winter workouts and eventually the 2017 season."

Alumni Weekend/Alumni Game
Allen and his staff welcomed back four decades worth of Northwestern baseball alumni back to campus for Alumni Weekend, which took place from Sept. 23 – Sept. 25. Former Wildcats participated in a golf outing on Friday and a football pregame tailgate on Saturday, before culminating the weekend with Sunday's alumni game against the current roster.

"Alumni weekend is going to be a special weekend moving forward for this program," said Allen. "It's really good for us to get great involvement with the alumni and get their support. I am glad we could show them that they will always be welcomed back around this program."

Great Lakes Canadians
Northwestern hosted the Great Lakes Canadians at Miller Park on Oct. 2. The teams played a pair of seven inning games. Pitching was the highlight of the day for the Wildcats, as NU's pitching staff only surrendered two walks and one run in 14 innings of play.

Hank Christie and Joe Schindler earned starts on the afternoon and were extremely efficient, while Tommy Bordignon was dominant coming out of the bullpen.

Connor Lind and Jack Claeys, along with freshmen Charlie Maxwell and Nick Paciorek led the Wildcats' offense with three hits each.

UW-Parkside
UW-Parkside visited the friendly confines of Miller Park on Oct. 9. Northwestern pitched nine different arms on the afternoon, including Christie who went three scoreless innings and struck out four.

Maxwell led the 'Cats at the plate again, tallying four hits. Lind and freshman Alex Erro contributed to the offensive efforts, as Lind got the 'Cats on the board with his bat and Erro posted a pair of hits and runs scored.

Northwestern's defense played error-free baseball and only allowed six free bases on the day.

Illinois Springfield
Pitching proved to be the headliner in the fall finale against Illinois Springfield on Oct. 16.  Bordignon worked three scoreless innings, striking out five batters, while Schindler fanned three batters in three innings of work.

Offensively the 'Cats were led by Erro, who went 4-for-5 with a double, while Matt Hopfner and Maxwell each tallied a pair of hits.

Northwestern will open up its 2017 season on Feb. 17-19 with a three-game set at Arizona State.
