EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior Nia Coffey has been named the Big Ten Player of the week, the conference announced Monday. It is the first time this season that she has been recognized for her on-court performance.

Coffey averaged 28 points, 11 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 2.5 steals in wins over No. 16 Florida and Evansville. She shot a combined 66.7 percent from the field last week.

The senior co-captain had the best offensive output of the year against Evansville on Sunday. Coffey poured in a season-high 30 points and reached double figures less than three minutes into the game. It was Coffey's third career 30-point game as she has scored in double digits in 54-consecutive games. Against the 16th-ranked Gators, Coffey led the Wildcats with 26 points and 14 rebounds to secure her 43rd-career double-double. She added eight rebounds, six assists and a block and a steal to round out her stellar performance.

In addition, Coffey was named the College Sports Madness Big Ten Player of the Week.

Northwestern will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 1, when it hosts Virginia in this year's edition of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. This is the third all-time meeting between the Wildcats and Cavaliers as the all-time series is currently tied 1-1.
