Three Runners Sign National Letters of Intent

EVANSTON, Ill. -- This week, three athletes were signed to National Letters of Intent by Northwestern Cross Country Head Coach 'A Havahla Haynes. Hannah Tobin (Lake Forest, Cal./El Toro), Amanda Davis (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista), and Ishwari Dasgupta (New Delhi, India/Vasant Valley) will enroll and begin competition in the 2017 season.
"This is a group of young ladies we are excited to have join the Northwestern family. We are looking forward to having Hannah, Amanda and Ishwari join us in the Fall. We expect these three to build upon the talented group of young ladies currently on the roster and add depth to our top seven" said Coach Haynes on her second recruiting class.
Hannah Tobin
Lake Forest, Cal.//El Toro
High School: Personal bests of: 17:02 - 3 mile/10:36 - 3200 m/4:56 - 1600m… Part of the League Championship-winning Varsity El Toros Chargers Cross Country and Track teams for four years (MVP all four)… School record-holder in 3-mile, 3200m, 3000m, 2-mile, 1-mile, 1600m and 1500m… Won Mt. Sac Track invitational in 2016… Won Individual Sea View League title in 2016.
Personal: Born in Mission Viejo, California to Julie and Seth Tobin… Competed against Northwestern Cross Country Freshman Aubrey Roberts at Brooks PR Invitational… Anticipated major at Northwestern is Psychology (Pre-Med).
Amanda Davis
Phoenix, Ariz.//Desert Vista
High School: Personal Bests of: 2:16.15 - 800m/4:55.98 - 1600m/10:46.69 - 3200m/17:13.20 - 3-mile/ 17:59.90 - 5K… Part of three-time State Championship-winning Desert Vista Thunder team… Placed third in the 1600 at state competition in 2016… Part of school-record holding 4x800m team (9:01.51)... Placed 5th at Nike Cross Country Nationals in 2014.
Personal: Born in Phoenix, Arizona to Bob and Judy Davis… Captain of Desert Vista Cross Country team… Member of National Honor Society, Rho Kappa… Brother Ben Davis runs Cross Country/Track for Loyola Marymount University… Anticipated major at Northwestern is Psychology.
Ishwari Dasgupta

High School: Personal bests of: 2:12 - 800m/59.0 - 400m… Best Athlete Honors at Vasant Valley School… Placed eighth at All-India Nationals in 2014… Member of Vasant Valley Soccer Team… Placed third in 2015 CBSE Soccer International Championship, fourth in 2013, 2014.
Personal: Born in Kolkata, India to Ipsita and Ronobir Dasgupta… Class President two years in a row (2013-2014 and 2014-2015)... Initiated 'Hiya' a women's empowerment campaign for the youth in Delhi… Anticipated major at Northwestern is Legal Studies and International Studies.
