BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Northwestern volunteer assistant coach Cody Brewer dominated Tony Ramos on Sunday at Who's #1 in an exhibition battle between former national champions.

Brewer and Ramos, both training for a spot at the World Championships, competed at the annual event in a showcase match.

"Coach Brewer could not have set a better example for our young team," Northwestern head coach Matt Storniolo said. "He showed them what can happen when you do things right and stay on your offense. 61 kilos has been put on notice."

The Northwestern coach's relentless attacking style made all the difference, as Brewer built up a big lead and continued to pile on, eventually turning a four-point move into a 12-0 first period technical fall.

2015 national champion Brewer tech-falled the 2014 national champ Ramos in 2:15 and was named the FloWrestling Wrestler of the Week for his efforts.

"I'm just thankful I got to wrestle in the competition," Brewer said. "More than anything, I am just excited to compete again. It was good to get back out there and compete and enjoy it."

Brewer will continue training for the World Team Trials in November. The World Championships will be held Dec. 10-11 in Budapest, Hungary.

Northwestern begins its season on Nov. 6 with a home tri-dual against UChicago and North Central College.
