Nia Coffey Earns Preseason All-Big Ten Honors for Third-Straight Year

Northwestern senior forward Nia Coffey was named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team by both the coaches and the media, the conference announced Monday morning as it kicked off the start of the inaugural Big Ten Women's Basketball Week.
This is the third year in a row Coffey has been named to at least one of the Preseason All-Big Ten Teams. As a junior in 2015 she was named a unanimous selection in the Coaches Poll and was also selected to the Media Poll. As a sophomore in 2014 she was voted to the Coaches' Preseason All Big-Ten Team.
Last season Coffey was named to the Women's Basketball Association (WBCA) All-Region and was named an honorable mention All-America selection by the Associated Press to become just the third player in program history to accomplish the feat.
Coffey has scored in double figures in 50-straight games, dating back to Jan. 22, 2015, for the third-best streak in program history and averaged a team-best 20.3 points per game just last year. During the 2015-16 season, she led the Big Ten in double-doubles with 18 to tie an NU single-season record and was the only Big Ten player to rank among the league's top five in points (20.3 ppg), rebounds (9.8 ppg) and blocks (2.0 bpg).
