NU Continues Strong Play at Wildcat Duals

Northwestern wins five singles, two doubles matches

EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 26 Northwestern continued its strong play at the Wildcat Duals on Saturday at Combe Tennis Center as they squared off against foes from 22nd-ranked TCU. The Wildcats were victorious in two of three doubles matches and four of seven singles matchups.

The seventh-ranked doubles team of Alex Chatt and Maddie Lipp took down the TCU team of Marie Norris and Alexis Pereira, 6-3, while the duo of Manon Peri and Lee Or was dominant against Mia King and Olaya Garrido-Rivas as they blanked the Horned Frogs' team, 6-0.

In singles play, Brooke Rischbieth had little trouble with Pereira, rolling to a 6-2, 6-1 victory. In fact, all four of Northwestern's singles wins came in straight sets. Maddie Lipp, ranked No. 61 nationally, took care of business against Garrido-Rivas as she earned a 6-3, 6-2 triumph. Erin Larner also handled things in two sets as she disposed of Caroline Wegner 6-3, 7-5, while Alex Chatt defeated Aleksandra Zenovka 6-4, 6-4.

Alicia Barnett and Jillian Rooney both took their opponents to three sets but came up just short against Norris and King, respectively.

Northwestern wraps up play at the Wildcat Duals at 1 p.m. Sunday when they take on opponents from DePaul.
