EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern head baseball coach Spencer Allen has rounded out the remainder of the coaching staff with the addition of Tad Skelley, the program announced Tuesday.
Skelley will fill a variety of roles for the Wildcats. The Wolfeboro, N.H., native will work closely with the Northwestern outfielders, while also assisting in the development of the hitters. Skelley will serve as the program's Director of Operations and the Camp Coordinator. He will also assist Allen, associate head coach Josh Reynolds and assistant coach Dusty Napoleon with their on-campus recruiting efforts.
The former Wheaton College (Massachusetts) standout most recently served as the Director of Operations at Notre Dame since 2013. He helped to plan all aspects of the Fighting Irish practices, served as the video analysis coordinator, assisted with camp organization and planned all travel and financial arrangements.
Before his stint in South Bend, Ind., Skelley was a mathematics teacher and baseball coach at Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, N.H. from 2012-13.
Skelley graduated from Wheaton in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in economics. He had a hand in 130 victories over four seasons as the Lyon won three conference regular season championships and three tournament titles. He served as a team captain in 2011 and graduated as a .345 career hitter.
Prior to arriving at Wheaton, Skelley stood out in baseball, hockey and football at Holderness School in Plymouth, R.I. He claimed the Webster Cup as the school's top athlete in 2007.
