Larner Tabbed ITA Midwest Region Rookie of the Year

Oregon native was previously named Big Ten Freshman of the Year

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's tennis freshman Erin Larner (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) has been recognized as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Region Rookie of the Year.

Larner was previously recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year as well as an All-Big Ten selection. She is the first Wildcat to be named the regional Rookie of the Year since Maria Mosolova in 2008 and the sixth overall dating back to 2001.

Larner posted a team-best 29-12 record during her first season with the Wildcats while tying fellow freshman Alex Chatt for the team lead in victories. She competed at No. 2 singles for the majority of the dual match season when she posted a 16-8 mark, including going 8-3 during the Big Ten season.

Her efforts helped Northwestern to a 16-8 dual match record as the team advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament.
