'Cats Runners Ready For Saturday's Illinois Twilight

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Following a weekend off from competition, Northwestern cross country returns to the track this weekend at the Illinois Twilight on the campus of the University of Illinois. Wildcats will compete in five different events on Saturday at the Illinois Soccer & Track Stadium, among a field that includes the hosts, Indiana, Bradley, Butler and DePaul.

The action begins at 5 p.m. CT in Champaign with Isabel Seidel and Hannah Rose in the 3000m Steeplechase. This marks the first time Northwestern will participate in a steeplechase event this season, an obstacle race.
Four Wildcats will take part in the 1500m race, led by sophomore Andrea Ostenso and Jena Pianin. Ostenso currently boasts NCAA qualifying times in both the 5000m and 10,000m event, while her classmate is in position for qualification in the 5000m. They will be joined at the starting line by Rachel Weathered and Victoria Bianco, who will also compete in the 800m race.
Another `Cat in position to qualify for NCAAs, Elena Barham (10,000m), will compete in the Illinois Twilight 3000m event with teammate Sara Coffey. The final Wildcats event of the meet will be the 5000m featuring Mallory Abel, Allison Jacobsen, Elena Miller, Brooke Pigneri and Ellen Schmitz.
