EVANSTON, Ill. -- Despite a late schedule change that delayed the match one day, No. 26 Northwestern was unfazed and went on to defeat Nebraska 4-0 for its fifth consecutive win. NU improves to 17-7 this spring and 6-2 against Big Ten opponents.

The `Cats clinched doubles wins at No. 2 and 3 to take a 1-0 lead. No. 85 Fedor Baev and Strong Kirchheimer defeated Marc Herrmann and Scott Elsass 8-5 on court 2, and Mihir Kumar and Alp Horoz bested Andrew Dzulynsky and Charlie Shin by the same margin at No. 3.

Kumar and Horoz have now wonthreedoubles contests in a row, while Baev and Kirchheimer extended their win streak to four.

Freshman Logan Staggs added another point for NU at No. 4 singles, where he overcame Chris Hobgarski 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 6, Horoz beat Elsass 6-0, 6-2 to make it 3-0, and 116th-ranked Kirchheimer clinched the victory at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Herrmann. The wins marked both Horoz's and Kirchheimer's fifth straight in singles.

In its last regular season home match, the Wildcats celebrate Senior Day tomorrow against No. 72 Iowa at noon.
