Chatt Improves to 7-1 with Win at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Freshman Alex Chatt improved to 7-1 in 2015 with a win over Miho Kowase in the Wildcats' dual with Ohio State on Friday. Chatt won a three-set nail-biter, 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) to put Northwestern on the board.
The Northwestern freshman is 7-0 when playing in either the fourth or fifth singles spot.
The 28th-ranked Wildcats (4-4, 1-1) fell at No. 22 Ohio State, 6-1.
Ohio State won each singles match, except against Chatt at No. 4, in straight sets. Alicia Barnett and Rheeya Doshi managed to take their respective opponents to tiebreaks in the first set but were unable to come away with wins.
The Buckeyes picked up the doubles point with a pair of wins at Nos. 2 and 3. O'Neill and Sanford bested Chatt and Brooke Rischbieth, 8-3, in the first completed match of the afternoon. The remaining two matches were neck-and-neck. The duo of Barnett and Erin Larner tied at seven with the No. 24 tandem of Sandy Niehaus and Gabriella De Santis when their match went unfinished because of an 8-6 Ohio State win over Doshi and Lok Sze Leung at No. 2.
