All nine Northwestern wrestlers competing in Columbus this weekend received pre-seeds at their respective weight classes. Jason Tsirtsis (30-1) is the highest seeded Wildcat at No. 2 at 149 lbs. Mike McMullan (23-2) is seeded third at 285, and Pierce Harger (25-4) is No. 4 at 165.
The rest of the Wildcats include: Garrison White (No. 7 at 125 lbs.), Dominick Malone (No. 11 at 133 lbs.), Jameson Oster (No. 7 at 141 lbs.), Ben Sullivan (No. 13 at 157 lbs.), Mitch Sliga (No. 12 at 184 lbs.) and Alex Polizzi (No. 7 at 197 lbs.).
Last season, Tsirtsis became the second consecutive Wildcat to win a Big Ten title, bringing home the conference crown at 149 lbs. with a 6-2 decision over top-seeded Jake Sueflohn of Nebraska. Four other Wildcats joined Tsirtsis on the podium in 2014. Harger (165) and Polizzi (197) placed fourth, McMullan was fifth at 285 and Malone finished eighth at 133 lbs.
Tsirtsis will look to become the seventh Northwestern wrestler all-time to win multiple Big Ten titles.
