Each week, NUSports.com will bring you an interview with a member of the Northwestern women's tennis team to allow fans a chance to get to know the individuals who make up the 16-time defending Big Ten champion Northwestern Wildcats.

EVANSTON, Ill. - This week's Meet the `Cats feature focuses on freshman Alex Chatt. The Western Springs, Ill. native currently leads the Wildcats with a 7-2 dual record and is undefeated in conference play.

Chatt won the first five singles matches of her Northwestern career in straight sets, helping the `Cats to a trio of wins. Her remarkable streak of 10 straight sets won lasted from Jan. 24 to Feb. 27. Chatt is 7-1 in the fourth and fifth singles spots in 2015.

"Alex dominates the court with her inside out forehand and feisty attitude," head coach Claire Pollard said. "She is a tenacious competitor who loves to compete and fight her way to victory. Alex loves Northwestern and bleeds purple."

She has also partnered with Lok Sze Leung for a 4-1 record in doubles play, including a shutout against No. 6 Baylor.

A standout at Lyons Township, Chatt was the second-ranked player in the state of Illinois and No. 38 in the country. She put together a 115-12 mark in her high school career and was named a High School All-American.

Q: Describe your recruiting process and how you ended up playing at Northwestern.

A: I always wanted to go to a school with great academics and a strong tennis program that was close to home. I started looking at schools in the Midwest and took visits to two schools, one of which was Northwestern. I fell in love with it right away and committed as soon as I was offered.

Q: What advice do you have for kids wanting to play collegiate tennis?

A: The endless hours of hitting serves, traveling to tournaments and doing sprints is worth it. College tennis has such an exciting atmosphere that allows you to compete for your school, team, coaches and friends. No other sport gives you this type of euphoria.

Q: What's your dream job?

A: Lawyer

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: I love all cultural food.

Q: How do you want people to think of you as a person?

A: Honest and trustworthy

Q: What are your favorite sports teams?

A: Chicago Cubs and Chicago Blackhawks

Q: Who are your favorite athletes?

A: Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka
