EVANSTON, Ill. - Six Northwestern wrestlers will compete for national titles during the 2015 NCAA Championships in St. Louis this week. The final event of the 2014-15 season runs from Thursday, March 19 to Saturday, March 21 at the Scottrade Center. The weekend will culminate with the championship finals at 7 p.m. on Saturday televised live by ESPN.

The Wildcats are led into St. Louis by defending national champion Jason Tsirtsis and four-time NCAA qualifiers Pierce Harger and Mike McMullan.

Tsirtsis (34-1) will look to defend his crown at 149 lbs. as the No. 2 seed in 2015. He will wrestle unseeded Daniel Neff (21-12) of Lock Haven in the first round. Tsirtsis is coming off his second consecutive Big Ten championship and is 13-1 against the field in his weight class.

After national finishes of third, second and third, heavyweight Mike McMullan will attempt to capitalize on the momentum of his 2015 Big Ten title and win his first national championship. The Northwestern senior (27-2) received the second seed at 285 lbs. and will wrestle Wyoming's Tanner Harms (18-10) in the final match of the first round on Thursday. Fellow senior Pierce Harger will also wrestle in his fourth and final NCAA Championships. The 165-pounder was named an All-American a season ago and received the No. 7 seed in his weight class this season. Harger (28-6) will take on conference rival Nick Moore (22-9) of Iowa.

Alex Polizzi (197) will wrestle in his third consecutive national tournament, while Dominick Malone (133) makes his second appearance. Jameson Oster (141) is competing on the national stage for the first time in his Northwestern career.

Northwestern is at its best when March rolls round. The Wildcats have had at least one All-American in nine of the last 10 seasons and have finished in the top-15 nationally in eight of those seasons, including three finishes in the top-10.

The ESPN family of networks will provide coverage of every match at the 2015 NCAA Championships. The semifinals (March 20) and finals (March 21) will be televised in primetime on ESPN, while ESPNU will show the first, second (March 19) and quarterfinal (March 20) rounds, in addition to the medal round (March 21). Fans can also stream every match live via ESPN3 with individual mat feeds and the ability to watch up to four matches at one time.

Anthony Robles, Jim Gibbons, Tim Johnson, Adam Amin, Shawn Kenney and Quint Kessenich will provide commentary from St. Louis.
