2015 Meyo Invitational – Complete Results

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Rachel Weathered won her One-Mile heat by breaking the five-minute mark for the first time in her career, and Andrea Ostenso established a new school record in the 5,000m race this weekend at the Meyo Invitational on the campus of Notre Dame.

Weathered, a junior from Naperville, Ill., paced the field in her One-Mile heat with a time of 4:58:33, shaving nearly three seconds off her time from the Gladstein Invitational two weeks ago.

On Friday evening at the Loftus Sports Center, sophomore Andrea Ostenso shattered the school record in the 5,000m event, turning in a time of 16:31:66 to finish fourth overall. The Ladysmith, Wis., native improved by almost 20-seconds over her Gladstein Invitational winning time from Jan. 24 (16:51:25), which was her first competition since earning NCAA All-Region honors in November. Teammate Elena Barham crossed the line in 17:50:05.

Sophomore Jena Pianin also turned in a terrific effort in South Bend, finishing the 3,000m race in 9:37:75, good for tenth place. Freshman Isabel Seidel crossed the line just behind the winner of her heat, turning in a 10:08:49 result, while juniors Renee Wellman (10:19:30) and Megan O'Brien (10:22:43) both improved significantly over their season-opening times from Bloomington. Junior Mallory Abel (10:31:05), and sophomore Ellen Schmitz (10:26:32) ran terrific races in their first 3,000m action of the season. Both competed in the 5,000m event two weeks ago.

The Wildcats will continue their indoor track schedule on Friday (Feb. 13) in Allendale, Mich., at the Grand Valley State Big Meet.
