2015 Big Ten Tournament Information
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern, which secured its first top-25 ranking in the Associated Press poll since 1996 on Monday, will begin play at the Big Ten Tournament in Hoffman, Estates, Ill., soon. Tickets are on sale now for the event, which begins on Wednesday, March 4 and continues through Sunday, March 8.
With two games left in the regular season this week, Chicago's Big Ten Team is still actively battling for seeding in the conference tournament. No. 5 Maryland, which visits Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday, March 1 at noon, has secured the number one seed, however Northwestern can still receive the second seed. The Wildcats are currently in a four-way tie for third place with Minnesota, Ohio State and Rutgers, which visits Evanston this Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.
Northwestern, which has won at least 11 conference games for the first time since 1991, has guaranteed itself a first-round bye in the Big Ten Tournament and therefore can begin play no sooner than March 5. Head coach Joe McKeown's squad can be no higher than the sixth seed at the Sears Centre.
