EVANSTON, Ill. — A historic 11-win season and a second bowl win in four years will be on the line when No. 13 Northwestern takes the field against No. 23 Tennessee in the 30th edition of the Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium on Friday at 11 a.m.
The Wildcats (10-2) and Volunteers (8-4) both enter the game riding five-game winning streaks. A victory by Chicago's Big Ten Team would mark the first 11-win season in program history and make the 2015 senior class the first to win two bowl games. The two teams have met just one other time in program history when they squared off in the 1997 Comp USA Florida Citrus Bowl.
Friday's game will be the first to kickoff on New Year's Day and will be aired to a national television audience on ESPN2. Mark Jones and Rod Gilmore will be in the booth providing play-by-play and analysis while Quint Kessenich will be on the sidelines.
As always, the game will also be broadcast on WGN 720 with the voice of the Wildcats Dave Eanet, his partner in the booth Ted Albrecht and sideline reporter Adam Hoge.

Tennessee Notes
• The Vols are making their 51st all-time bowl appearance, tying for fourth all-time in college football history. Butch Jones has led the Vols to consecutive bowl appearances following last season's 45-28 dominating victory over Iowa in the TaxSlayer Bowl on Jan. 2, 2015.
• Tennessee rides a five-game winning streak into the bowl after posting an 8-4 regular-season record. The win streak and the regular-season win totals are the most since the 2007 season when the Vols also appeared in the Outback Bowl. Tennessee heads into the bowl ranked #23 in the College Football Playoff poll. Northwestern is 13th in the CFB Poll and 12th in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches Poll.
• This is the Vols' fourth all-time appearance in the Outback Bowl (previously known as the Hall of Fame Bowl). The Vols are 2-1 all-time in those games, winning their last appearance in the bowl, 21-17, over Wisconsin on Jan. 1, 2008. Tennessee also beat Boston College in the 1993 Hall of Fame Bowl, 38-23. The Vols lost the 2007 bowl to Penn State, 20-10.
