Northwestern Concludes Wildcat Fall Duals With Strong Showing

Wildcats sweep singles matches against DePaul foes

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's women's tennis team produced a strong finish to the Wildcat Fall Duals on Sunday at Combe Tennis Center as the team swept five singles matches. The Wildcats matched up against opponents from DePaul on the final day of competition.

In doubles play, the Blue Demons managed to win two out of the three matches. The duo of Manon Peri and Jillian Rooney notched Northwestern's victory in doubles as they took down Jarret Fisher and Milica Tesic, 7-5.

In what was the final competition of the fall for the majority of the Wildcats' squad, NU's played ended on a high note with singles play. Three players won in straight sets highlighted by Maddie Lipp's convincing 6-0, 6-1 win over Patricia Lancranjan. The 'Cats also got straight-sets wins from Alex Chatt and Brooke Rischbieth. Chatt defeated Rebeca Mitrea 6-4, 6-1 while Rischbieth took care of Tesic 6-4, 6-4.

Meanwhile, Erin Larner and Rooney both rallied back from a set down to earn their victories. Larner knocked off Zaina Sufi 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 while Rooney was victorious 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 over Fisher.

The lone remaining fall event for Northwestern competitors will be next weekend's USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing, New York, where they'll be represented by the team of Lipp and Chatt in doubles competition.
