EVANSTON, Ill. – The No. 19 Northwestern women's basketball team will host a preseason exhibition game against Seton Hill at 2 p.m., Sunday afternoon at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
All tickets are free general admission for the exhibition contest. The game will allow fans tog et their first look at head coach Joe McKeown's Wildcats, a team picked to finish third in the Big Ten by a vote of the conference media last month. Doors will open at 1 p.m.
A live stream of Sunday's match up will be available on NUSports.com, courtesy of Studio N.
Northwestern opens the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 15, when it hosts Howard at 6 p.m. Single-game tickets and season tickets are available through the Northwestern Ticket Office, online at NUSports.com or by calling 888-GO-PURPLE.
A LOOK AT NORTHWESTERN
With 23 wins to its credit during the 2014-15 season, Northwestern secured at least 20 victories for the first time in seven years under head coach Joe McKeown, and marked the first time since 1995-96 that the 'Cats won at least 20 games. The Wildcats earned the programs first NCAA Tournament bid in 18 years. The group also earned its first Associated Press poll ranking since 1996 and its first-ever acknowledgement in the USA Today Coaches poll.
Northwestern returns four starters this season, including Preseason All-Big Ten Team member Nia Coffey and her classmates Ashley Deary and Christen Inman. Senior sharpshooter Maggie Lyon is also back in the fold for McKeown, who begins his eighth season at the helm of the program.
Northwestern will tip off the 2015-16 season ranked No. 19 in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 Poll, which was released earlier this week. Northwestern also ranks No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches' Preseason Poll and No. 12 in the early Athlon Sports Magazine poll.
A LOOK AT SETON HILL
Seton Hill will begin its third season of PSAC play this year and was selected sixth in the PSAC West Women's Basketball Preseason Poll. This year's squad must replace their top three scorers from last season, but return an experienced squad as the team returns 10 players who saw action in at least 16 games.
The team will be led by lone-senior Jharrin Gill, who will be looked upon for leadership on and off the court as the team's point guard. Last year the Griffins finished 12-17 overall and 8-14 in PSAC West play, good for a fifth place finish. The Griffins were defeated by Edinboro in the first round of the PSAC Tournament.
