• Penn State is one of eight schools nationally to have more than 850 wins. Four of those programs are in the Big Ten: Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and Penn State.
• The Nittany Lions have won three straight road games at Northwestern. Saturday marks the first game Penn State has played in Evanston since Oct. 22, 2011.
• Penn State has four players from Illinois on its roster. All have joined the Nittany Lions during James Franklin's tenure, and all four hail from the Chicagoland area.
• James Franklin is 6-4 in his Penn State career in games decided by seven points or fewer. Northwestern is 2-0 in such games this year, and the Wildcats are 27-18 under Pat Fitzgerald when games are decided by less than a touchdown.
