EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's golf head coach Emily Fletcher today announced the signing of Brooke Riley (Manteca, Calif./East Union) and Louise McCulloch (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) to National Letters of Intent to join the No. 5 Wildcats for the 2016-17 season.

"We are elated to have Brooke and Louise officially join our Wildcat Golf Family today," said Fletcher. "I am confident they will both have an immediate impact on our program. As a coach, there is nothing more special than welcoming players who know unequivocally that Northwestern is the place for them. Both Brooke and Louise have exuded this belief!"

Riley earned Valley Oak League MVP honors all four years of her scholastic career at East Union High School. Ranked among the Top-20 golfers in California, she finished in third last year's CIF state championship, earned a Top-20 spot at IMG Junior World in a field that featured 144 of the world's best players, and qualified for the 2014 United State Women's Amateur Championship. The Manteca native was named to the Principal's Honor Roll in each of her four years in high school and plans to major in Communications at Northwestern.

"Brooke caught our attention two years ago and we have been so impressed with her continual improvement and work ethic," said Fletcher. "This is a player who is going to leave her mark on our program and I am beyond excited to see it unfold."

McCulloch won the 2015 North Suburban Regional Championship, and the 2014 Central Suburban League title, for the New Trier Trevians. The local product from Wilmette ranks among the Top-3 players in Illinois and earned All-State honors in 2015 and All-Conference laurels in both 2014 and 2015. McCulloch earned Honor Roll recognition in each of her first three years of high school and intends to major in Communications at Northwestern.

"As a product of the Wildcat Golf Academy, we have been aware of Louise's talent for a long time," Fletcher said. "Louise possesses an unrivaled enthusiasm for golf and life and we know it will elevate our program."

Northwestern captured its second Big Ten Championship in three years last spring on the way to a program-best 10th-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships. Big Ten Coach of the Year Emily Fletcher's roster this season returned 2015 Big Ten Player of the Year Hannah Kim, All-Big Ten honorees Suchaya Tangkamolprasert, Kacie Komoto and Kaitlin Park, and reigning Big Ten Individual Champion Sarah Cho.

The No. 5 Wildcats finished in the Top-2 in each of their four events during the 2015 fall campaign, including a win at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, and have seen three different golfers honored as Big Ten Golfer of the Week.
