Northwestern led the field with 192 pars and the Wildcats 852 team score in the 5-count-4 format is the second-best mark in program history for a 54-hole event. The 'Cats established a program record (849) two weeks ago at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Nashville, breaking the previous mark of 853 established at the 2014 Stanford Intercollegiate.
Komoto set the pace for the Wildcats in the final round of competition, with birdies on three of her first six holes, and two of her final five on a scorecard that was bogey-free. The junior's 5-under 67 on Tuesday vaulted her 20 spots up the leaderboard to finish tied for fourth. Her 211 is the fourth-best 54-hole tournament score in Wildcats history, and comes just two weeks after teammate Stephanie Lau set a program record by firing a 207 at the Mason Rudolph.
Teammate Hannah Kim was just a stroke behind Komoto at 4-under for the tournament, tied for sixth. On Monday Kim birdied five, six, seven and ten in the first round, and finished the loop with an eagle on the Par-5 15th and a birdie on 17 to card a 66 and tie the Westmoreland women's course record, which was then broken in the afternoon by Oklahoma State's Maddie McCrary (65).
Lau was the low scorer for the 'Cats in Round 2, carding birdies on four of the final five holes of the front-nine, and two of the last three holes on the back, to finish with a 5-under 67. She finished the tournament at 2-under, tied for 14th.
Founded in 1911, Westmoreland Country Club has played host to the Western Open, the Western Amateur and both the Chicago District Golf Association's Women's Championship and USGA Women's Amateur Championship. The original 1912 course design by William Watson has undergone several renovations, most recently by Arthur Hills in 1993.
