Head coach 'AHavahla Haynes' lineup for the event is led by three returners from the Wildcats squad that finished tenth at the 2014 Big Ten Championships in Iowa City, seniors Elena Barham, Camille Blackman and Rachel Weathered. The experienced trio will be joined by senior Allison Jacobsen, Junior Elena Miller, sophomore Brooke Pigneri and a trio of rookies, freshmen Hannah Anderson, Sara Coffey and Mary Orders.
Special guests at the event will include Northwestern's 1965 men's cross country team. The group is in Chicago celebrating the 50th anniversary of their Big Ten title won in Minneapolis, and a season that finished with a runner-up performance at the NCAA Championships.
Five Big Ten women's cross country teams are nationally ranked heading into the Big Ten Championships, with Michigan leading the way at No. 2.
The Wolverines return six competitors who were part of Michigan's lineup at previous Big Ten Championships, including last year's All-Big Ten runner Shannon Osika, who finished sixth overall.
Penn State is ranked No. 15 and returns the reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year Elizabeth Chikotas to this season's lineup. Alongside Chikotas are three returners from last season's championships. No. 21 Michigan State is looking for its third consecutive title at this year's event. The Spartans' leading returners from last season's championships include Alexis Wiersma and Katie Landwehr, finishing No. 13 and No. 17, respectively. Minnesota is No. 22 in the poll and returns its leading finisher from last season in Liz Berkholtz. Three freshmen will gain postseason experience alongside Berkholtz.
Purdue enters the weekend ranked No. 30 and returns five runners who contributed to the Boilermakers' score at last season's championships. Wisconsin is receiving votes in the poll and welcomes back 2014 second-team All-Big Ten finisher Emma-Lisa Murphy. Illinois returns five runners from its championships lineup last season, including senior Britten Petrey. Indiana has four freshmen competing and its returning top finisher is Amanda Behnke. Iowa, Maryland and Nebraska each return four runners from last year's championships lineup.
Ohio State returns four finishers from the top-half of the field last season and adds three freshmen to its championships lineup. Rutgers is led by a trio of runners that competed in the 2014 event, including top finisher Paige Senatore.
The Big Ten Cross Country Championships will air (tape-delayed) on Big Ten Network at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 12. For behind the scenes coverage and real-time results, follow @BigTenChamps on Twitter or visit the women's cross country page on bigten.org.
