Northwestern Sweeps Big Ten Weekly Honors

Jovanovic, Cramer and Page recognized for efforts in Wildcats' victories
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's men's swimming and diving team earned a clean sweep the Big Ten Athlete of the Week honors it was announced Tuesday. Junior Andy Jovanovic was honored as the league's Swimmer of the Week, junior Andrew Cramer was recognized as the Diver of the Week and Carter Page was tabbed the Freshman of the Week.
The trio earned the honors based upon their efforts in last Saturday's four-team dual meet against UIC, Denison and host University of Chicago. The Wildcats defeated all three teams, topping U. of Chicago 226-67, UIC 211-89 and Denison 222-78.
Jovanovic won three individual events, finishing first in the the 100-yard backstroke (50.60), 100-yard freestyle (46.43) and 100-yard butterfly (50.21). He also contributed to a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.33). The Swimmer of the Week honor is the first of his career.
Cramer earned first-place finishes on both of the springboard diving boards. He scored 301.05 points in the one-meter event and 331.05 points in the three-meter event, earning NCAA Zone qualifying marks in both events. This is the second time in his career that Cramer has been recognized as the Big Ten Diver of the Week.
Page continued the solid start to his collegiate career, sweeping the distance freestyle events. He won the 500-yard freestyle (4:38.89) by over nine seconds and took the 1000-yard freestyle (9:26.97) by nearly 20 seconds. His time in the 1000 free set a new University of Chicago pool record. Page also earned a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.03).
Northwestern returns to action Nov. 6 and 7 when it faces Missouri, Southern Illinois and Kentucky in Columbia, Missouri.
