ANN ARBOR, Mich. --
Sophomores Erin Larner and Maddie Lipp each posted victories in the singles main draw to advance to Monday's quarterfinal round at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships.

Both individuals advanced with straight-set victories. Larner notched a 6-4, 6-4 win over Ohio State's Miho Kowase to earn a date with DePaul's Yuliya Shupenia on Monday. Meanwhile, Lipp had little trouble with DePaul's Marina Cozac in their round-of-16 matchup, winning 6-2, 6-2. Seeded No. 2 in the draw, Lipp advances to face Michigan freshman Kate Fahey in the quarterfinals.

Larner and Lipp nearly were joined by teammate Alex Chatt among the final eight participants, but she was edged by Wisconsin's Lauren Chypyha in a nail-biter 6-7, 7-5, 7-6.

In doubles competition, the Northwestern team of Larner and Jillian Rooney just missed out on a spot in Monday's championship match. The duo defeated Wisconsin's Lauren Burich and Kelsey Grambeau 8-4 in the quarterfinal round before falling to Ohio State's Ferny Angeles Paz and Sandy Niehaus in the semifinals.

Monday's quarterfinal round is set to get underway at 9:30 a.m. Central time at the University of Michigan.
