Seidman Advances to Qualifying Round Championship

ITA Midwest Regional Championships Bracket

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Northwestern freshman Jason Seidman has advanced to the finals of the qualifying round at the ITA Regional Championships on the campus of Notre Dame.
 
Seidman won two matches on Thursday to clinch his spot in the finals. The winner of Friday morning's 8 a.m. match between Seidman and Wisconsin's Jakhongir Jalalov will play in the main draw of the Regional Championships.
 
The Northwestern freshman kicked off his day by beating the draw's 12th-seed, Carlos Manzanas of Northern Illinois, in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Seidman followed that with another straight-set win over Cleveland State's Andre Mick, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
 
Eight players from the qualifying draw will move on to the weekend's main draw.
 
Singles and doubles main draw action begins Friday and runs through the championship matches on Monday.
