EDMONTON -- Northwestern point guard Karly Roser will represent Canada at the Edmonton Grads International Classic. The three-game exhibition series vs. Brazil takes place June 26-28 at the Saville Community Sports Center in Edmonton, Alberta.

Roser received a try out for the Canadian Senior Women's National Team and was one of 16 players selected to compete in the exhibition series. The three-game series will see the Senior Women's National Team (SWNT) - ranked 9th in the world - square-off against the strong and experienced 7th-ranked Brazilian squad. Both Canada and Brazil will begin to hone their skills ahead of the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women, held in Turkey at the end of September. Canada Basketball will announce the final SWNT roster that will compete in Turkey at a later date.

“We are excited to take on a strong opponent to begin our preparation for the FIBA World Championships,” Canadian SWNT head coach Lisa Thomaidis said. “Every player at our training camp has shown tremendous heart and determination, and I am excited to see what we can do against a talented team like Brazil.”

Roser will utilize the exhibition series to try and cement her name on the final roster and once again represent Canada Basketball. The Hamilton, Ontario native was a starter and team captain for the Canadian U17 national team that participated in the FIBA World Championships in France in 2010. She played seven games in France, averaging 9.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in 28.3 minutes. The All-Big Ten honoree and 2013-14 team captain will be a senior on the Northwestern women's basketball team in the fall.
